Welcome to the third newsletter in our "update" series

In it we bring you details of a number of new products that have recently been launched. As always, our products, whether they are standard items or custom manufactured to a URS, incorporate the best we have to offer from our expert areas of: Spectroscopy, Engineering and Software. Key attributes for a robust PAT implementation are the right sensor (e.g. spectrometer) coupled with well designed engineering and compliant, plant appropriate software to provide a small "footprint", low maintenance installation. Expo offers PAT products built on those key attributes to give the highest level of performance in a robust format for the Pharmaceutical Industry.




New Product UV/Vis ePAT771
Cleaning Verification Reaction Monitoring

A high specification, wide range spectometer ensures full application coverage and the long term performance is verified by the integral system suitability unit, a photmetric and wavelength validation module. The stringent regulations with regards to plant safety are covered by the ATEX certification level Ex d [ia] px IIC T4 Gb, which pays particular attention to the sampling system as well as the spectrometer housing. Expo's ePAT771 is a complete PAT solution for applications such as reaction monitoring and cleaning verification. This latest unit is capable of on line and at line operation utilising flow cells and immersion probes in the process area.

Content Uniformity in Blending
Reaction Monitoring

Introduced earlier this year the ePAT801 for uniformity of powder blends is capable of the ultimate performance for on-line monitoring. The system can show 100 X better sensitivity than the equivalent NIR instrument. The ePAT801 LIF now includes a software selectable excitation source with a range of wavelengths to choose from and generates a full spectrum analysis.




New Release -NovaPAC for ABB

NovaPAC is a full analytical and instrument control package with real time chemometrics capability and built in OPC server. The latest release of the software adds the full range of ABB Process FT-NIR instruments to its driver database and offers users of ABB spectrometers; a Graphics User Inter¬face, full stored method control plus the embedded validation package running photometric and wavelength performance tests to USP 1119 guidelines.




New - Enhanced flexibilty extended NIR mPAT

A PAT solution for development and manufacturing, the mPAT offers Pharmaceutical Development, in a single multitasking instrument, the most cost effective route to implement PAT in any, or all of the following unit operations:


• Blend Monitoring
• Reaction Monitoring
• Fluid Bed Drying
• Batch Granulation
• Continuous Granulation


The mPAT uses our high performance, wireless, diode array spectrometer and is engineered to accept interchangable sample probes. The mobile workstation incorporates all the accessories for off line operation, including a remote sample window and probe referencing point. This highly flexible solution enables straightforward technology transfer of PAT applications from laboratory to manufacturing.
