Application and Implementation Feasibility studies are executed to confirm that the ePAT device is the right technology for the process.

Design & Implementation

Phase 1: Feasibility

During the Feasibility Phase an Application Feasibility Study or AFS and the Implementation Feasibility Study or IFS are performed in order to better understand if one of Expo Technologies standard ePAT devices can meet the application requirements; and also, if it can be practically implemented, with minimal change to the measurement device and the associated sampling interface. The AFS and IFS documents, including analytical results and design drawings of the proposed implementation, are presented to the client in the Implementation Proposal. This may serve as the basis for the User Requirement Specification. If the User Requirement Specification mirrors the Implementation Proposal (IP) then a standard, off the shelf ePAT device could be utilized. If the URS does not match the IP then the Implementation Phase requires further discussion.

Phase 2: Implementation

Expo Technologies applies a project management approach to every PAT implementation. A rigorously tested process is followed to ensure the ePAT process measurement device is implemented in a robust manner. The client may use the Implementation Proposal, presented in the Feasibility Phase, as a basis for their own User Requirement Specification or URS. If the URS and IP are different then a prototype device is developed to further understand if the requirements in the URS can be met. A Functional Design Specification is generated from characterization of the prototype device. If the FDS is agreed to then a rigorous risk assessment process is employed to develop a robust PAT measurement device.

Phase 3: Sustainability

Applications and Service support are key to a successful PAT implementation. Expo Technologies have a knowledgeable support team and robust processes in order to effect quick and efficient support. Smart design of the PAT device can also assist efficient maintenance. For example, having the ability to quickly swap out key components of the ePAT system and be confident that component change will not alter performance characteristics, is very important in facilitating right first time servicing. See document 601-RR-18-0129-A Modularity and Service Robustness (PDF) as an example of how Expo have characterized the effects component change on ePAT systems.
